1. Star Nosed Mole

You’d be forgiven in thinking that this creature is in fact from another planet, the Star Nosed Mole is an absolute sight for sore eyes. Does it have a face? I’m not entirely sure, however, if you come across one of these things, run and cover your eyes!

2. Shoebill

A terrifying bird, tall and rangy, the Shoebill bird is a wild animal with an extremely thick beak. This bird really is somewhat of an unknown quantity so it’s probably best to avoid it if you stumble across one in the woods!

3. Naked Mole Rat

It lacks a certain amount of fur I think, what do you think? An absolutely disgusting looking creature, Naked Mole Rats are somewhat of a cult legend, appearing in many popular cartoon television programmes.

4. Marabou Stork

This bird is a known top-level scavenger and is very dangerous, even to humans. It’s massive size makes it an intimidating figure out in the wild and an elite predator! They love garbage and have a weird pouch hanging from their necks!

5. Tube-Nosed Fruit Bat

Just look at the face of this creature, absolutely terrifying! It’s bogey-green coloured eyes make this animal a hard creature to read and considering the fact that it looks like a mini story-book monster, I think it’d probably be better to stay away!

6. Adder

Snakes are known to be slithery, slightly demonic but most importantly, extremely dangerous! The Adder is no exception and this animal can be found living in the woods. It his a zigzag pattern covering is scaly skin and their venom can be deadly!

7. False Widow Spider

This spider can bite hard enough to puncture your skin and whilst it’s not as dangerous as an actual widows spider, the False Widow Spider is still dangerous and can inflict major illness on the bitten. Scary stuff!

8. Bat-Eared Fox

A fox with the ears of a bat? Who knew that such a thing exists? I certainly didn’t and it’s cunning stare make this variation of fox far more scary than the more common type which can be seen running through the streets at night time.

9. Long-Wattled Umbrella Bird

This bird almost doesn’t even look real but could very well be in a woods near you! A long pouch hanging down from the next area, this bird looks a lot more like a Pokemon than a real life creature! Perhaps you can catch one of these on Pokemon Go eh?

10. Lesula

This form of monkey is beyond creepy to say the least! It possesses an almost human like facial expression at all times which can actually be quite disturbing too look at. The Lesula actually looks more like a Photoshop creation than a real life creature.

11. Lobster Moth Caterpillar

So essentially this thing is like three different animals in one? If anyone knows please confirm this for us! A horrible looking creature which looks as if it’s capable of much mischief. Whichever angle you look at it from, it looks like a nasty piece of work!

12. Turtle Frog

Possibly the most slimy creature to have ever graced the Earth, make sure to wash your hands if you ever decide to pick this bad boy up when you’re on a nature walk! It’s extremely rounded body gives this frog a very abnormal appearance.

13. Metallic Beetles

An alien looking insect, Metallic Beetles look kind of cool yet dangerous. They have a hard shell and a creepy way of traversing the environment. People have been known to eat beetles, so if you’re brave enough to eat one, you may be in for a surprises!


14. Wild Boar

They’re apparently scared of humans so you shouldn’t be to alarmed if you come across one, however, the extremely athletic and robust appearance of the Wild Boar make it look much mire menacing than is actually the case.

15. Poodle Moth

What on Earth is this thing? It’s weird appearance make this moth creature a very terrifying prospect. It’s completely covered in fur and is as creepy as anything you’ll find out in the wild. If you happen to encounter one, please share your experience!


16. Yellow-tailed Scorpions

A very rare creature, scorpions in whatever variation are utterly terrifying. However, the Yellow-tailed Scorpion will only sting if threatened and even then their stings do not pose a huge threat to humans and won’t do any lasting damage.


17. Pinocchio Frog

Named after a famous children’s character who was famous for his extremely long nose, this frog is no different. Its nose is so long that it actually flops over its entire face. Along with a slimy, nasty appearance, the Pinocchio Frog is creepy.

18. The Bilby

Greater bilby or rabbit-eared bandicoot Macrotis lagotis in the extensive mallee woodlands of Scotia Wildlife Sanctuary, western New South Wales, protected by a feral predator-proof fence and site of endangered species recovery projects conducted by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.
A rat with massive ears essentially, this little man could probably hear everything from the other side of the world! This size of its ears add to its already permanent look of paranoia. Try not to sneak up on the Bilby, it can hear you coming!



19. Honeypot Ant

With a massive back full of honey which looks ready to burst at any moment, if you are in need of some more honey for you breakfast, go out in the woods and try find one of these! However creepy looking, ants are always hard-working.
